Project QUEST- Quality Employment Through Skills Training

Project QUEST, an innovative job training program in San Antonio, has earned statewide and national attention as a model for local workforce development efforts. Since 1993, Project QUEST has met the needs of San Antonio area businesses by training local residents who would otherwise be on public assistance and not in the San Antonio workforce.

Project QUEST was created in 1992 through collaborative relationships including Communities Organized for Public Service, also known as COPS, The Metro Alliance, the city of San Antonio, the governor, The Texas Employment Commission and more.

This program offers comprehensive training opportunities to disadvantaged adults interested in pursuing careers in targeted industry sectors.  This includes career paths in healthcare, business/services, information technology, manufacturing, installation, repair and maintenance.

Primary goals of Project QUEST are to develop a skilled and educated workforce, place participants in jobs paying family-level wages, and most importantly, to strengthen the San Antonio economy.

To achieve these goals, Project QUEST enrolls qualified San Antonio residents into high demand occupational training programs, provides participants with intense case management and support services, and offers job search after the completion of training.

Since 1992, Project QUEST has assisted over 3650 participants to gain access to occupational training and approximately 91 percent of those participants were employed a year later as Project QUEST follows their progress.
