Educational Opportunities
College-Based Skills Training
Project QUEST believes that long-term training results in
long-term employment, family wages, benefits and an improved lifestyle
for participants and their families. The programs we offer are
college-based studies and most are directed toward associate degrees
from one of the area community colleges or professional training
institutes. Some courses of study are based on certificate programs
approved by the State of Texas and various licensing boards and, in some
cases, may be offered through regional, state-certified private
training facilities.
Project QUEST has partnered with the Alamo Colleges, the Baptist School of Health Professions, and UTHSC in training its participants.
Project QUEST offers its educational opportunities based on
analysis of state and regional employment trends, coordination with the
workforce development board, participation on local career advisory
boards, and information from employers in the occupations for which we
offer training. In that regard, the availability of educational
opportunities may vary from time to time. We seek to offer a variety of
opportunities in the healthcare, information technology, and trades
industries.
College Preparation and GED classes
QUEST Prep is a self-paced program developed by Project QUEST and is
led by a professional educator in a dedicated learning center. Group
instruction is given in areas identified as deficient in most of the
students in a given class. Participants proceed at their own pace in
other areas of remediation. The goal is to lift the education level
from as low as 6th grade in reading or math to a college level. QUEST
Prep was piloted and refined in-house on a very small scale beginning
in March 2007 in partnership with the San Antonio Independent School
District. Project QUEST now seeks to expand the QUEST Prep to serve
adults without GED and adults that are academically deficient.
